Being new to Orlando I was obviously nervous about my daughter going to a new school. Not to mention middle school! I absolutely love HCMS..... Ms. Berry, teaching band is a great leader and truly cares about her profession. Mr. Larkin, who is the drama teacher also cares deeply for the kids and his teaching. My daughter's core teachers are also wonderful. The digital curriculum engages the students and makes learning "cool". When I call up to the school they are friendly too. HCMS is wonderful and if you are able to go here you are very lucky. Take full advantage of every possible opportunity.

This is one of the best middle schools in the District. The new principal is excellent, and handled a huge challenge of coming in to her new role during the first year of a digital curriculum pilot imposed by the District. She also made some staff changes that needed to be made and showed decisive leadership. Perhaps there are a few more to make, but the vast majority of teachers there are knowledgeable, enthusiastic and committed to the kids' success. Comments by other reviewers stating that basically everything is horrible are clearly sweeping overgeneralizations. My children have gotten excellent educations there. When there have been issues, proactive and professional communication on my part with the teachers has generally worked very well for me. They have been very responsive. It is a change from elementary school, however - teachers do not send constant communications. This is true at any middle school. Parents have to do more outreach to teachers. But at HCMS they respond. The guidance counselors are great and the Music department is simply amazing. I do not doubt that some families have had a bad experience, but most of the students and parents love it here.

This used to be a good school. The new principal obviously does not know what she is doing. From technology gaffs to not knowing what the heck is going on in classrooms - it is BAD! Do yourself a favor and steer clear of the "terrific" Hunter's Creek schools - they aren't that great and the high school, Freedom is a nightmare! Better yet, steer clear of Florida altogether if you want a good education for your children.

Not good at all! The new principal is incompetent and the staff speak to the students in demeaning ways. Nothing but a bunch of teachers on their high horses. My child lost a lot of self confidence while attending this school.

Love this school because of the amazing faculty and staff! We have had a positive experience with our daughter who will now be entering into the 8th grade. The teachers have all responded immediately to any concerns and have accommodated my daughter with extra support academically. The principal is amazing and runs a great school with teachers who care to try hard enough to lead students into a successful future. As with any school, just keep a close eye on the influences friends.

The staff is very nice to the students my daughter loved her teachers. HOWEVER the academics are failing primarily because there is a lot of CHEATING going on between the students and the students are in turn FAILING ACADEMICALLY and setting themselves up for FAILURE AS ADULTS and the teachers have no clue this is happening! My daughter was helping a lot of students with answers because she is a nice person and I had to explain to her that she cannot do this and why it is not good for anyone's future and illegal! So, everyone is very nice, but academically these kids are not getting the proper attention, dedication, or supervision. Which of course is horrible for the futures of these children out in the real world.

Excellent school, very satisfied with the faculty and support provided to my students. I like the daily alerts on assignments. One thing that could be improved is that all the teachers use the progress book updates.

My second child is in 6th grade there now. I found it to be a good experience for my older son when he was there as well. I have found that the teachers and staff are very responsive if you reach out to them; they are very quick to respond to emails. At the Open House, I noticed that the teachers all seem to very proud of the students and seem very happy to be there. The principal, Dr. Border seems to be well respected by the teachers and staff. I have not noticed very much turnover in the years between my children attending. My daughter is feels very safe there. The transitions into the school from elementary school, and from HCMS to FHS were both very easy for the kids.

The last of my three children will be graduating this year from HCMS. Overall it has been a great experience for us. They were high performers (top 95%tile) and the school kept them challenged. The music program is also exceptional for a Middle School.

My son is in 6th grade at this school. So far I have been disappointed in the quality of teaching and the lack of communication between parents and teachers. There is no homework to speak of, and my son (in adv. classes) is not challenged at all. Zero communication from the teachers makes me feel like my son fell into a black hole once he started attending this school.

The academic programs are excellent they are an A rated school. They have many great programs in music which my son was involved in as well as many other extracurricular activites. The only negitive thing I would say and I didn't know this til I started this inquiry into the school where where are moving is it,s a as my son just told me ' It's a very smart school but its a rough school there are at least a couple fights a week.' He also just told me it always seems to be the same kids and the school was good for expelling those who were repeat offerners. He said as long as you were smart enough you just stay away from the trouble makers. He did enjoy almost all of his teachers.
